WebP is useful for website photographs, product images, blog graphics, thumbnails and interface assets when you want modern compression without giving up transparent backgrounds. Browser support is broad, but keep original source files when another workflow still requires JPG or PNG.

Start around 80–86 quality. Check faces, gradients and fine textures before using a lower setting.

Can I batch-convert JPG and PNG together?

Does conversion remove metadata?

The new WebP copy is freshly encoded, which removes common EXIF, GPS and camera metadata. The original file remains unchanged.

Will animated GIFs remain animated?

No. Browser canvas conversion normally exports the currently decoded frame as a still WebP image. Use a dedicated animation tool when animation must be preserved.

What happens if my browser cannot create WebP?

The converter checks browser support before processing and shows a clear message instead of creating the wrong format.
