Online Video Player
Open and play videos directly on your device. Build a playlist, change playback speed, add subtitles, capture frames and use fullscreen—no file upload or account required. Playback formats depend on your browser and installed codecs.
Drag videos into the drop area or choose multiple video files to make a playlist.
Shortcuts: Space play/pause · ←/→ seek 5 seconds · M mute · F fullscreen
* MP4, WebM and other formats play only when your browser supports the video and audio codecs inside the file. Files labeled AVI, MKV, MOV, WMV and FLV can be selected, but are not universally playable. No server conversion takes place.
Direct video links only (HTTPS). Ordinary streaming-site watch pages do not work. Streaming playback depends on source permissions and browser support.

Play videos online without uploading your files
ConvertBuddy Online Video Player opens video files straight from your device through the browser’s built-in media engine. Select several files or drag them into the player to create a temporary playlist. This avoids uploading large home movies, screen recordings, footage or downloaded clips just to view them. Playback speed and seek controls work on the original video without conversion. When you close the tab, your local playlist is cleared.
How to use the online video player
- Add a video: choose one or several video files or drag them into the player.
- Start playback: choose a playlist entry and press Play in the video controls.
- Customize your view: set speed, loop or fit mode, or use fullscreen and Picture-in-Picture when supported.
- Load captions: add a local SRT or VTT file for the video currently playing.
- Capture a frame: pause at a moment and select Snapshot to download a PNG (local videos only; remote links may restrict frame capture).
Which video formats will play?
The player accepts MP4, M4V, WebM, OGV, MOV and several other file extensions for playback attempts. Actual compatibility depends on the codecs inside the container. H.264 video with AAC audio in an MP4 container is usually the most compatible combination. WebM with VP8/VP9 and supported audio is another useful choice. MOV files, H.265/HEVC, AV1, 4K and HDR depend on your browser, hardware and operating system. MKV, AVI, MPEG, WMV and FLV are not generally supported by HTML5 video on every browser; choosing one will not magically decode an unsupported format.
For a video that will not open, try playback in a desktop player that supports its codecs or convert a copy to MP4 (H.264/AAC) or WebM before loading it here. The tool does not upload or transcode your file and it does not claim to bypass digital-rights protection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I play MKV and AVI files online?
You can select MKV and AVI files, but playback depends on whether your browser can decode their container and codecs. MP4 using H.264/AAC is the most broadly compatible choice.
Are my videos uploaded to ConvertBuddy?
No. Files added from your device are loaded using local object URLs and processed by the browser video element without uploading the file to ConvertBuddy.
Can I play MOV, HEVC, 4K or HDR videos?
Some MOV, HEVC, 4K and HDR videos can play when the browser, operating system and hardware support their codecs, profiles and dimensions. Support varies.
Does this player support subtitles?
Yes. Load a local .vtt or .srt subtitle file to view captions with a compatible browser.
Can I play videos from YouTube or other streaming sites?
No. A direct publicly accessible video media URL can work, but ordinary YouTube or streaming-platform watch-page links are not video media URLs.
Why does my video not play?
The video may use an unsupported container, codec or profile, or a remote server may block playback. Try MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio or WebM with VP8/VP9.
