Tip: JPG or WebP provides the most reliable target-size control. PNG is lossless and may remain above very small limits.

Automatic size optimization

The tool first adjusts encoding quality, then carefully reduces dimensions when needed. It never enlarges the original image and processing stays inside your browser.

Forms and applications

Meet upload limits such as 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB.

Quality-aware

Uses a quality search before reducing resolution.

Compress an image to a practical KB target

Some forms, portals and websites accept an image only when it is below a specific file-size limit. The Target Size Compressor repeatedly adjusts quality and, when necessary, dimensions to create a smaller copy that aims to stay within the selected limit while preserving as much visible quality as practical.

A target such as 100 KB is not a visual quality setting: two images with the same dimensions can compress very differently because detail, noise, transparency and format all affect the final size. For that reason, always inspect the exported result rather than assuming that one quality percentage works for every file.

Tips for better small images

  • Resize oversized camera photos before forcing very strong compression.
  • Use JPG for photographic images when transparency is not needed.
  • Try WebP when the destination accepts it and smaller files are important.
  • Keep the original file until the compressed result has been checked.

Target image size FAQ

Can the result be exactly 50 KB or 100 KB?

The tool targets a maximum size. Exact byte counts are not always possible because image encoders produce discrete results.

Why did the image dimensions become smaller?

If quality reduction alone cannot reach the target, reducing dimensions can be the better way to avoid severe compression artifacts.
